The book Presajena roža (The Transplanted Flower): On the Life of the Kolenc Family and the Emigration from the Vojskarska Plateau from the Late 1950s to the Early 1970s, was written by Olga Kolenc. Her recollections reach back to the Vojsko Plateau, an area traditionally marked by farming, its distance from major centers, and dispersed settlement. After the Second World War, industrialisation in Idrija and, farther away, in Nova Gorica, prompted many young people to leave Vojsko, Hleviše, Čekovnik, and Kanomlja. Farms were gradually abandoned, cultivated land became overgrown, and many homesteads were left empty or converted into holiday houses.

Olga Kolenc, born in Log – Pri Tincu, is one of the many who moved down into the valley. In her writings, she documents the changes that led to the gradual depopulation of the Plateau and preserves memories of everyday life, work, and the dialect of the Vojsko region.

Today, the Vojsko Plateau is an area experiencing a pronounced demographic decline, with permanent residents mostly limited to the elderly. Nevertheless, the region retains significant cultural and historical value, which authors such as Olga Kolenc continue to document through their writings and research—thus, in cooperation with ZRC SAZU, becoming an valuable part of citizen science.

The book series Besede s Planote (Words from the Plateau), edited by Dr. Petra Kolenc of the Milko Kos Historical Institute, has been published since 2005 within the TKŠ LO-KO Association in cooperation with ZRC SAZU, the Research Station in Nova Gorica. Its purpose is to encourage the collection, preservation, and publication of records documenting life in the demographically sensitive area of the Trnovo Plateau and its surroundings. The series invites contributions from current and former inhabitants of the Plateau, emigrants, as well as researchers and lovers of local history.
